Maryville Drops League Match
MARYVILLE – Maryville fell 9-0 to Covenant in the team's second USA South match of the year, but the Scots still had solid performances all around.
"It was a valiant effort today on the women's side," Maryville head coach Doug Corbett said. "Several very close sets."
Each member of the team was able to pick up at least one game win in both doubles and singles action.
Elizabeth Shwaiko and Eliza Cheshire won four games in the No. 2 doubles spot. Shwaiko and Melanie Kowalewski each impressed with five game wins each in solo action. Abby Diggs had a solid showing in the second singles spot, with four game victories.
"Our last two opponents are the standard in our conference," said Corbett. "For our program, it's not a matter of if, but when. We are going to be strongly competing against them one day."
Maryville continues conference play over the weekend with two road matches. The Scots face Huntingdon on Friday and LaGrange on Saturday.
