Scots Fall to Royals 8-1
KNOXVILLE – The match score between Maryville and Johnson was the same as it was in the team's earlier match, but the improvement for the Scots was clear.
"The growth is undeniably there," said Maryville head coach Doug Corbett. "Across the board, the individual matches were almost all more competitive and the level of play was higher."
Kyle Shaver earned the lone win for the Scots in No. 1 singles action. He defeated Kaden Buchanan for the second time this season.
Singles action for Maryville showed promise with each competitor picking up at least two game wins over each of the two sets played on Monday. Both Cooper Newman and Ben Wyrick won a team-high six games.
In doubles play, the Scots improved by two in game wins over the early season match against the Royals. The team had eight game victories on the day.
Maryville returns home for their home finale on Friday. The Scots host Berea in USA South action at 4:30 p.m.
