LaGRANGE, Ga. – Maryville took advantage of an roster-challenged LaGrange squad and rolled to a 7-0 USA South victory Saturday in Georgia.
The Scots won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles with the team of Eliza Cheshire and Abby Smither, and then they earned a forfeit win at the No. 2 position. The third doubles match was not contested.
In singles, Melanie Kowalewski prevailed at No. 1 with a 6-0, 6-1 scoresheet. Abby Diggs won in a double-bagel 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position, and Elizabeth Shwaiko did the same at No. 3 singles. Cheshire and Smither closed out the match with a pair of forfeit wins to hand Maryville its second official victory of the season.
"We are looking forward to the home stretch of our season," Maryville head coach Doug Corbett said. "A lot of competitive matches and great opportunities are there for the rest of the season."
The Scots are back in action April 11 at Johnson in a 3 p.m. start. They host Berea on March 13.
