MT. GILEAD, N.C. – Maryville saw a couple of personal bests fall by the wayside this week during the Jack Ingram/Pfeiffer Fall Invitational.
First-year
Rachel Harris was the leading finisher for Maryville in 10th place. Harris carded 85 and 86 over the two days to cover the 36 holes in 27 over par.
Sophomores
Makenzie Pile and
Isabella Wright both fired collegiate low rounds. Pile on Monday shot 84 to eclipse her previous best round from last season by two strokes and earn her a 15th-place result. Wright on Tuesday fired a 93 that was eight strokes better than her collegiate low. The Maryville native finished in a tie for 19th place and also led the team this week with three birdies.
Chloe Dunlap counted toward the team score both days, with
Felicia Potenza rounding out the Scots lineup.
Maryville finished at 754, bettering host and fifth-place Pfeiffer by 38 strokes.
Catawba from the Division II ranks took the team and individual honors. The Indians shot 645 to win by 44 strokes over a reserve team from Belmont Abbey, another Division II program. Sandhills Community College was third.
The Scots are back in action Oct. 17-18 at the Music City Invitational, hosted by Trevecca Nazarene and taking place in Murfreesboro.
