Box Score Brevard Invitational Results
BREVARD, N.C. – Maryville closed out the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule with a stop at the Brevard Invitational.
Saturday's play saw the Scots pick up five singles wins and two more on the doubles court against strong competition.
Kaleb Burke went 2-0 in singles, while
Ben Wyrick,
James Smith and
Seth Green earned one victory apiece. Smith and
Jackson Meyer teamed for a doubles triumph, as did
Gabriel Villalonga Serra and
Jonathan Crane.
"We had a lot of singles matchups against a strong team in Methodist," Maryville head coach
Doug Corbett said. "Some of them were tough learning experiences, and in others we performed really well. James had a phenomenal day in singles, nearly beating an NCAA tournament-caliber player and handling another solid opponent. Seth had a strong win, which is awesome to see given his steady improvement. And great job to KB for going 2-0 on the day in singles.
"As always, we need to evaluate the feedback we get from these matches and put in the necessary work over the offseason."
Maryville is back in action Feb. 24 at Pfeiffer and Feb. 25 at Johnson & Wales in North Carolina.
