Box Score MARYVILLE – Maryville was home for its spring women's tennis opener Wednesday but the Scots dropped a 7-2 decision to Pfeiffer.
Abby Diggs and
Elizabeth Shwaiko nearly grabbed an early doubles point before falling 8-6. But those two were the winning tickets in singles. Diggs at No. 2 won 7-5, 6-0. And right after she finished, Shwaiko at No. 3 brought home a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Shwaiko here in the early going is already 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles for the spring campaign.
Pfeiffer is off to a 5-0 start, while Maryville is now 0-4.
The Scots are back in action Saturday with the men's team. Both squads are hosting Brevard at 1 p.m.
