SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maryville's
Megan Shinn continued her fine first-year performance with a sixth-place showing at the Mountain Goat Invitational, hosted by Sewanee.
Shinn led the Scots and covered the 5K distance in 22 minutes and 1.9 seconds.
"We saw some incredible improvement by the women's team," Maryville head coach
Kaitlyn Carringer-Adams said. "
Megan Shinn missed her PR by 2 seconds but raced very strong.
Madison Smith and
RaeEllen Coffey had breakthrough moments today.
"Madison beat her previous PR by over 2 minutes and had a great finish, while RaeEllen also beat her previous PR by almost 3 minutes.
Kaitlyn Smith ran a PR today by 21 seconds."
Madison Smith's time was 28:12.2, with Coffey at 30:37.5 and
Kaitlyn Smith crossing in 32:56.0.
The Scots return to action Oct. 18 at Chattanooga's home meet. Competition takes place at Camp Jordan in East Ridge. The CCS Championships follow Nov. 1 in Clinton, Mississippi.
