FULL RESULTS
SALEM, Va. – Maryville had a positive start to the calendar year men's indoor track and field season with 24 personal records set at the Finn Pincus Invitational, hosted by Roanoke.
All five Scots set PRs in the mile, led by
Steve Cope with a season record of 4 minutes and 59.70 seconds for a 37th-place result.
Tyler Tangel was next at 5:12.29, followed by
Terry Gonzalez in 5:23.10,
Paul Kanios in 5:28.96 and
Gustavo Hernandez in 5:38.09.
Three other events saw three Scots with PRs.
Teddy Orton was not one of those with a PR, but he led the way in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 11th with a time of 8.94 seconds. Landon Parker,
John Siepert and
Ty Hylwa all posted PRs, with Parker crossing in 9.34 seconds, Siepert in 9.36 and Hylwa in 9.81.
Jacob Faulkner finished in 11.09.
In the 60M dash,
Zyon Rockett posted a PR of 7.42 seconds. He was followed by Faulkner in 7.53 and then a pair of PRs from Zaiven Hart in 7.74 and
Nolan Hutson in 8.17.
Orton posted a PR in the 200M dash, crossing in 25.05 seconds. Parker had another PR of 25.45, Hylwa finished in 26.49 and Hutson contributed a PR with a time of 27.51 seconds.
Both Maryville competitors in the 3000m run and 800m run posted PRs. In the 3000m, Gonzalez finished 31st with a time of 11:00.36, followed by Hernandez in 11:29.83. The 800m run saw
Sam Cocchia with a PR and season record time of 2:10.90 to finish eighth for Maryville's best individual placement of the meet, with
James LeNeve close behind in 12th with a time of 2:14.75.
Maryville also landed two PRs in the weight throw.
Cam Robinson was the top MC finisher at 12.76m.
Jaden Marlin posted a PR of 11.11m, as did
Josh Lay with a throw of 11.01m.
Joshua Panetta contributed a throw of 9.72m.
Tyler Barrett had Maryville's best field events finish with a ninth-place result in the long jump on 6.59m. Faulkner competed and jumped 5.87m. In the shot put, Robinson led the way with a toss of 11.58m. Marlin was next at 11.52m and Lay had another PR with a throw of 11.01m.
Maryville's distance medley relay team of Cope, Crider, LeNeve and Tangel finished fifth with a PR and season record time of 11:59.73. Cocchia contributed another PR and season mark with a 1:33.96 time for 10th place in the 600m run. Siepert landed a PR in the 400m run after crossing in 56.29, and Crider landed a time of 3:14.99 in the 1000m run.
The Scots are back in action Saturday at the Centre Indoor Showcase in Kentucky.
