ROME, Ga. – Steven Cope set a school record and a personal record in finishing second in the 3000m steeplechase to pace Maryville at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals.

Cope crossed the line in 10 minutes and 23.04 seconds. Teammate
Sam Cocchia was fourth in 12:26.76.

The Scots set four additional PRs in the long-distance running events: Tyler Tangle in the 5000m run and three others in the 1500m run. Tangle posted a time of 17:24.45 for 18th place in the 5000, while
James LeNeve clocked 4:36.12 to finish 27th in the 1500, followed by
Terry Gonzalez in 4:51.10 to finish 29th and Paul Kanos in 4:54.18 to place 30th.

LeNeve, Gonzalez and
Jonathan Yost set PRs in the 800m run. LeNeve clocked 2:12.09 to finish 19th, Gonzalez finished in 2:20.60 for 21st place and Yost came home in 2:39.61 for 23rd place.

In the 200m dash, all three Scots set PRs. Tory Crenshaw finished 28th with a time of 23.62 seconds,
John Siepert was 30th in 23.81 seconds and
Julian Martinez finished 36th with a time of 24.96 seconds. In the 110m hurdles, Siepert set another PR with a clocking of 15.79 seconds to finish fourth. Martinez then came back in the 100m dash and clocked a PR of 12.33 seconds to place 33rd.

The field events resulted in another five PRs for the Scots, with two apiece from
Josh Lay and
Jacob Faulkner. Lay established PRs in both the shot put and discus. His throw of 11.92m in the shot put was good for 14th place, and his toss of 28.72m in the discus landed him in 21st place. Faulkner posted a PR in the javelin with a throw of 38.55m for seventh place, and his shot put of 9.83m for 25th place was another personal record.
Elvin Wagner landed a long jump of 6.06m for 10th place and a PR.
