KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Maryville honored seniors
Chloe Dunlap and
MaKenzie Pile on Saturday as part of their home Tri-Match against Earlham and Roane State.
The team hosted a one-day event at Dead Horse Lake Golf Course, squeezing in 18 holes between rain showers and the approaching darkness. Roane State captured team and medalist honors, with Maryville second in the team category.
The match originally was slated for a noon start but was pushed back 90 minutes by lightning in the area. The course had standing water, so the teams played lift, clean and place for every shot.
Pile finished in tie for fourth place after shooting 15-over-par 87.
Emma Clonan was close behind with an 89, followed by
Makayla Smith at 98 and Dunlap at 100 to close out the Maryville scoring at 374.
McKenna Cawley shot 114.
Roane State finished with a team score of 339 for 51 over par. Georgia Cater was medalist at 10-over-par 82, followed by Raegan Corvette at 84 and Sarah Whitehead at 86. Sydney Romer tied Pile at 87 to complete the Raiders score sheet.
Earlham finished in third place at 437.
Maryville returns to the course March 24-25 at the Jack Ingram/Pfeiffer Women's Invitational in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina. The Scots have that tournament and one more before the USA South Women's Golf Championships in late April.
