BEREA, Ky. – Teddy Orton and
John Siepert finished 1-2 in the 110m hurdles to highlight Maryville's showing at the Landon Bond Classic, hosted by Berea.
Orton crossed the line in 15.47 seconds to post a school record and personal record time. Siepert finished second in 15.73 seconds for a strong Maryville showing. Siepert also turned in a second-place result in the 400m hurdles with a PR time of 58.95 seconds.
In the 5000m run,
Tyler Tangel posted a school-record and PR time of 17:09.60 to place fourth, with
Steve Cope right behind in fifth at 17:19.20. Tangel came back with another PR in the 1500m run, finishing 24th in 4:40.70.
James LeNeve finished 15th for the Scots in 4:30.60 and
Paul Kanios had a PR time of 4:47.56 to place 30th.
Toreaun Crenshaw was one of two Scots with a PR in the 100m dash, sprinting to an 11th-place result in 11.29 seconds.
Zai Hart also registered a PR with a clocking of 12.00 seconds flat for 29th place. In the 400m run,
Julian Martinez posted a PR with a time of 56.80 seconds to land in 15th place.
Orton was one of four Scots to PR in the 200m dash. Orton finished 16th with a PR time of 23.40 seconds, with Crenshaw 19th in a PR time of 23.52 seconds. Hart added a PR with a clocking of 24.72 seconds in 27th place, and
Nolan Hutson added a PR time of 26.78 seconds to land in 33rd place. In the 800m run, Kanios added another PR with a finish of 2:19.63 to cross in 32nd place. And in the 3000m steeplechase,
Sam Cocchia placed fourth (11:54.58) and
Gustavo Hernandez fifth (12:29.48) to score more points for the Scots.
Maryville's 4x100m relay team of
Tyler Barrett, Orton,
Ty Hylwa and Crenshaw finished in fifth place with a time of 45.20 seconds.
Pole Vault Success
The field events for Maryville featured a strong showing in the pole vault. Hutson cleared a PR height of 3.05m to finish second, followed by
Elvin Wagner in fifth with a PR (tied) of 2.75m and
Gustavo Hernandez in sixth with a PR height of 2.45m. Barrett finished fourth in the long jump (5.99m) and the triple jump (12.83m), while
Cam Robinson was fifth in the discus with a toss of 39.81m.
Jaden Marlin placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 37.78m, while
Josh Lay in the shot put posted a PR distance of 12.12m to finish 10th for the Scots.
Maryville stays active with a Saturday meet in Atlanta, competing in the Emory Twilight beginning at 4 p.m. MC hosts the Scots invitational on April 11-12 at the Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track.
