MARYVILLE – Megan Shinn won the 10,000m run in program record time to support Maryville's Day 1 effort on a cool and rainy Friday afternoon at the Scots Invitational.

The Austin Coleman Piper Memorial Track is the site for this two-day, non-team scoring event featuring athletes from Berea, Carson-Newman, Sewanee, Wilmington and the Tennessee Running Club.

Shinn covered the 10K distance in 43 minutes and 55.92 seconds, winning her race by more than 90 seconds against the closest competitors from the Tennessee Running Club.

The Scots finished second but broke the school record in the Distance Medley Relay.

Madison Smith and Shinn covered the 4000m in 16 minutes and 21.00 seconds.

Maryville set another school mark when
Alana Rodriguez and
Hailee Hardman finished 2-3 in the triple jump. Rodriguez on her fourth attempt posted 9.89m to break the MC record, while Hardman on her third attempt posted a PR jump of 9.69m.

In the hammer throw,
Abbey Cox,
Maddy McClellan and
Tyrika Small finished 5-6-7 for the Scots. Cox threw her hammer 36.41m, with McClellan covering 32.06m and Small 31.52m.
