MARYVILLE - Abbey Cox has been named the CCS Field Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row after a strong outing at the Tornado Classic last Friday. Cox set a school record in the shot put with a mark of 11.17 meters, placing second overall in the event. She also added third and fourth place finishes in the discus (35.43) and hammer throw (39.28).
Mariah Thornton was named the CCS Track Rookie of the Week after delivering a stellar performance at the meet, setting a school record in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.20 seconds, placing seventh overall. She also competed in the 200-meter dash, placing 16th overall with a time of 29.75 seconds.
Both efforts contributed to the Scots placing t-6th overall with 35 team points.
