NELLYSBURG, Va. - The Lady Scots started off the season strong on the road in Virginia as the team earned a third place finish at the Knights Invitational.
Maryville had two golfers finish in the top ten, earning All-Tournament honors - junior
Emma Clonan finished 10th at +23, her best finish in a tournament at MC, and freshman Charlsie McElhaney finished 9th at +22.
Mallory Higgins finished 12th,
Emily Miller 19th, and
Lillie Peterson 22nd.
Overall the Scots shot 693 for +117, good for a solid third place finish.
"As the first tournament of Maryville women's golf for me coaching this team, I couldn't be happier," Head coach Jesse Lawley said. "We had two top-10 finishes from Emma Grace and Charlsie. They played extremely well both days. The rest of the tem was super solid as well for us to finish in third as a team. There is always room for improvement, and we will get back on the grind later this week. Overall for the first event for may of us, and as the coach, I could not be more proud and know this is the beginning of may great things for our golf program."
The women are next in action Sep. 21 & 22 at the Montgomery Women's intercollegiate, hosted by Huntingdon.
