MARYVILLE, Tenn. — The Maryville College men's soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2026 season, marking the program's debut in the Southern Athletic Association.
Leading the Scots into a new era is longtime head coach Pepe Fernandez, who enters his 37th season at the helm of the program. Under Fernandez's leadership, the Scots have made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances, most recently earning a berth in 2025 after capturing a tournament championship in their final season in the Collegiate Conference of the South.
Fernandez will be assisted by Maryville alumnus Jameson Elmore and longtime coach John LaCava. In recent seasons, the coaching staff has also welcomed goalkeeper coach Luke Wheat and assistant coach Aaron Rucker.
The Scots open the 2026 campaign at home against Johnson & Wales in a long-awaited rematch between the programs' first meeting since 2003. Maryville will then host the Maryville College Fall Classic, featuring matches against Marietta and Wilmington.
Maryville's first road contest is scheduled against Berea before the Scots travel to Covenant for neutral-site matches against nationally ranked Lynchburg and Washington & Lee. The Scots conclude their non-conference September slate with contests against Warren Wilson and former CCS opponents Piedmont and LaGrange.
October 2 marks a historic moment for the program as Maryville opens Southern Athletic Association play against Millsaps, followed by a matchup with Rhodes on October 4.
A midweek contest against Covenant on October 7 breaks up conference play before the Scots host in-state rival Sewanee on October 13. Maryville then travels to Centre for a Friday night matchup.
The Scots face another challenging stretch later in October with matches against Southwestern on October 23 and conference powerhouse Trinity shortly after. Maryville closes the regular season with road contests at Oglethorpe on October 30 and Berry on November 1.
The Southern Athletic Association Tournament is scheduled for November 4-8 and will be hosted by Oglethorpe in Atlanta.
