Evans Sparkles Again at Pfeiffer

MT. GILEAD, N.C. – Tristen Evans returned to the place of his best first-year finish and this time led the Scots to a six-place result at the Jack Ingram/Pfeiffer Fall Invitational.
 
Evans shots 77-76 to miss his low 18-hole round by one stroke Tuesday. His best finish of 2021-22 was a tie for 28th at this very tournament last fall. This year, he ties for 12th at 9 over par.
 
Jacob Dunlap also shot 76 Tuesday and finished in a tie for 24th place at 13-over 157. That was one stroke better than Colton Novotny, who carded 76-82 to come home in 158 and 14 over par. Jack Craig counted toward the team score Monday with a 79, and Eli Goldes jumped up and counted Tuesday with his 79.
 
The Scots carded rounds of 25-over 313 both days to finish at 50-over 626, or one stroke behind Johnson & Wales Charlotte. They were five strokes clear of North Carolina Wesleyan, and then farther in front of Ferrum, Apprentice and a pair of reserve lineups from Pfeiffer and Johnson & Wales Charlotte.
 
Catawba's Chase Clayton won medalist honors at 3 over par, while Belmont Abbey's reserve side capture the team trophy at 23 over par.
 
The Scots are back in action Oct. 10-11 at the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational hosted by Oglethorpe in Flowery Branch, Georgia.
