Scots Announce 2023 Volleyball Schedule

Maryville Opening at Home Again; Three Straight Tournaments to Start

2023 Schedule

MARYVILLE –
Maryville for the second year in a row is starting its volleyball season inside the Cooper Athletic Center.

The Maryville College Labor Day Classic welcomes six teams to campus for a three-day series of matches. The Scots play twice on Friday, Sept. 1, once on Saturday and then two more times on Sunday as part of a 13-match schedule.

"It's a great opportunity for our local community and families over Labor Day to be able to watch us play," said head coach Kandis Schram, who enters her 38th season leading the Scots. "We are going to play over three days and have some good teams in. It's a great way to see what all our new people can do."

Tournaments at Washington & Lee and Wheaton (Illinois) follow.

"Our season is really front-loaded with some really tough, phenomenal teams," Schram said. "It's a great way for us to try different lineups and get a sense – especially with eight new people, it's going to be important filling our departing seniors' shoes. It will be essential."

CCS Games Begin Sept. 23
Collegiate Conference of the South play begins Sept. 23 at home against Belhaven and Piedmont in a Saturday tri-match. An away game at Emory is mixed in Oct. 6 and then the Scots return to Atlanta for the Emory Invitational as a transitional weekend between the regular season and CCS tournament.

"The NCAA extended the regional tournament, moving it later in November," Schram said. "So it gives us a weekend of play before the conference tournament and we are electing to go to Atlanta and play at Emory against some top teams.

Maryville is taking on Berry, Rhodes and Washington & Lee during the two-day event.

"That's going to be a great way to prepare for our conference tournament," Schram said.

That event is set for Nov. 7-11 at home sites.
