Men's Golf Places Third Overall, Porter Ties for Second

CINCINNATTI, Ohio. - Men's golf breaks through and improves by 327 strokes from last tournament to finish third overall at the State line Shootout, hosted by Mount Saint Joseph.

Jack Porter led the way for the Scots with a first round score of -1 and a round two score of +2, coming in at +1 for the tournament, good for tied for second place overall. Porter had four birdies in each round and was the picture of consistency throughout the tournament for the team.

"To move up the leader board on the last day shows the resilience of all our guys." Coach Lawley said. "Special shutout to Jack Porter for his tied for second place. That's his best finish ever in his collegiate tour with a birdie on the last to give him a chance for the individual title. I'm so proud of the commitment to get better compared to our last event. The growth has been tremendous. Can't wait to get back out there in Atlanta next week!"

Pierce Shinavier finished tied for 12th at +6, his best finish at Maryville as well, improving over 60 spots from his previous outing.

The team will next compete Oct. 6-7 in Atlanta at a tournament hosted by Oglethorpe.
