Box Score Maryville College opened up USA South play with a stout victory of William Peace on Friday by the score of 5-0.
The Scots took a 1-0 to halftime as Sierra Siegel found the back of the net from Monica Besbris.
The Maryville attack would be much more potent in the second half as they netted four goals. Casey Gentile would score the second goal of the game with the help of Siegel. Siegel would be key throughout the day as she also scored the third goal of the game. Maryville would stretch its lead to 4-0 when Tess Eisnaugle scored with the assist going to Eleni Mavres. The Scots would round out the day when Besbris scored the fifth and final goal from Grace Puryear. Megan Nugent would be excellent in goal, getting the shutout.
"We played a good game today and were able to start off our USA South schedule the right way," said head coach Pepe Fernandez. "Keeping Peace off the board and scoring five times will give us some momentum going into our showdown tomorrow."
Maryville improves its record to 3-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in USA South play. Maryville will finish their weekend swing Saturday as they travel to Averett. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
