Box Score The Maryville College women's soccer team used a 22 shot attack to defeat William Peace University 5-0 in a USA South Athletic Conference matchup in Cary, North Carolina on Monday afternoon.
The Scots lit up the scoreboard in the first 1:41 when Sierra Siegel took a Natasha Enrique pass past the Pacer keeper for her 4th goal of the season. Siegel's 47th career goal lifts her to 8th place on the Scots career goals list passing MC alum Sarah Powell.
Just four minutes later, Allyson Hale hit the back of the net off a Lizzy Simmons assist to record her 4th goal of the season.
Enrique found Taylor Wipf at the 18:57 mark for Wipf's second career goal before Gabby Billstrom closed out the first half with her 1st goal of the season off a Jordyn Lee pass.
Leading 4-0 at the intermission, Maryville's lone goal in the second period came on an unassisted attack by Allyson Hale at the 54:50 mark. Hale's 5th goal of the season paces the Scots in scoring this fall.
MC's defense allowed only two William Peace shots, with one on goal. Rachel Taylor and Mandy Marshall kept the net clean for the Scots earning the shared shutout.
The loss moves William Peace to 3-5-1 on the season and 2-2 in USA South play.
The Scots (6-2, 3-1 USA South) will return home on Wednesday to host LaGrange College at 4:00 p.m.
At the conclusion of the LaGrange match, the MC athletic department will recognize the 2014 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament Champions with a ring ceremony.
