OMAHA, Neb. —
Maryville College alum Scott Cline, class of 1992, is calling games in his fourth Men's College World Series.

Cline, who played baseball for the Scots from 1989-92, worked his way through the umpiring ranks until he earned his first College World Series nod in 2016. Cline made it back to Omaha in 2019, 2022 and this year, where he garnered attention on Sunday night as the official that slid in to call balls and strikes after the original home plate umpire, Kellen Levy, left in concussion protocol during Tennessee's game with North Carolina.

Cline was one of eight umpires selected for this year's Men's College World Series out of more than 1,300 registered Division I officials, a privilege that hasn't lost any significance.
