ATLANTA, Ga. -- Kylie Wilhelmi was named Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
Ruby Walton was also tabbed CCS Rookie of the Week in dominant fashion.
Earning Player of the Week was Cherry Valley native,
Kylie Wilhelmi. The senior outside hitter powered the Scots to a 3-0 start at the Sewanee Inivte, posting 47 kills across 22 sets, while maintaining a hitting percentage of .333%. Notably, Wilhelmi averaged 4.27 kills, 4.55 points, and 2.09 digs per set, helping Maryville earn wins over Meredith, Brevard, and Berea.
Piedmont's Zoe Coelho was awarded Defensive Player of the Week. The senior DS/L anchored the Lions' defense with an impressive show across four matches. Coelho racked up a team-high 63 digs, averaging 5.25 per set, leading the Lions in both total digs and digs per set for the week.
Rookie of the Week was awarded to Maryville freshman middle blocker,
Ruby Walton. The Nashville native made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, finishing the week with 28 kills on a .418 hitting percentage. Walton also added eight service aces wile averaging 2.55 kills and 3.41 points per set to help the Scots to an unbroken opening weekend.
Despite not receiving a title this week, Maryville' s
Katelyn Eldred deserves recognition for her time at the Sewanee Invite this past weekend. The DS/L tallied 28 digs, averaging 2.55 digs/set. Eldred also posted nine assists and six service aces, all adding to the sweep from Maryville for their first week of the season.
