MARYVILLE, Tenn. - Continuing celebration of its 150th anniversary season, the Maryville College Scots Baseball Team dedicated a new scoreboard for Scotland Yard on April 3, immediately before the Scots' game against Huntingdon College and Senior Weekend.
The new scoreboard was purchased and installed through generous contributions from Landon Coleman '99 and Anderson Lumber, Judge Fred Morrison '61, and Milwaukee Brewers Manager and former MC baseball coach Pat Murphy. The dedication ceremony included a ceremonial first pitch thrown by Coleman, adding a personal touch to the unveiling, and an announcement that the team had received a proclamation from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, recognizing April 3, 2026 as a day to honor the 150th Season of Maryville College Baseball.

Founded in February 1876 as the Reckless Baseball Club, Maryville College has maintained an uninterrupted tradition of baseball, becoming one of the oldest teams in the country. Scotland Yard has served as the team's home field since its inception and is believed to be among the oldest continuously used collegiate baseball fields in the world.
"We are incredibly appreciative of our donors who made this upgrade to our field possible," said Dr. Andrew Wu, athletics director. "Not only does the new scoreboard address a real need for our game-day experience, it beautifully complements the other improvements that have been made to baseball facilities over the last decade. I hope that all of our alumni — not just our baseball alumni — are proud of this program's historic milestone and our aspirations for its future."
