ATLANTA, Ga. - For the second year in a row, a Maryville College Scot has earned CCS Player of the Year, while the team also produced a Rookie of the Year winner.
Senior Det Dettwiller put together one of the most complete offensive seasons in the conference, earning CCS Player of the Year honors after ranking among the league leaders in multiple categories. Dettwiller finished the season with a .404 batting average and a 1.106 OPS, both among the top five marks in the CCS. He recorded 59 hits — fourth most in the conference — while his 80 total bases ranked top five overall. He also led the league in slugging percentage (.620) and ranked among the top five in home runs with six. Across 38 games, Dettwiller added 38 runs scored, 38 RBI, and 10 stolen bases.Â
Freshman second baseman Masin Hall emerged as one of the conference's top newcomers, earning Rookie Player of the Year honors after delivering a strong all-around season both offensively and defensively. Hall recorded 55 hits, ranking seventh in the CCS, while posting a .346 batting average and a .967 OPS. His 47 runs scored ranked fourth in the conference, while his 12 doubles were tied for third in the CCS. He additionally drew 24 walks, the fifth-highest total in the conference. Defensively, Hall was a steady presence at second base, totaling 85 assists, fifth in the CCS, while contributing to 16 double plays and maintaining a .946 fielding percentage.Â
Maryville led the way with a total of eight all-conference selections. Two Scots earned First Team All-CCS honors, with Det Dettwiller earned First Team recognition at two sports, for utility player and for outfield. Rookie Masin Hall also earned first team honors for his efforts at second base.
First baseman Frank Derner finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, earning second team honors. Shortstop Brayden Evans, third baseman Irvin Hernandez, DH Logan Krause, and pitcher Kaden Wimsatt rounded out the second team honors. Senior outfielder Colin Dunworth was named to the CCS All-Sportsmanship team.Â
A terrific year for the Scots continues in the CCS Tournament, with the Scots currently facing off against Huntingdon in the first round.Â
