ATLANTA, Ga. – The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its baseball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.
Frank Derner (Maryville) was named Player of the Week.
Frank Derner turned in a standout week at the plate, helping Maryville post a 3–1 record that included victories over No. 4 Lynchburg and No. 9 Adrian. The senior infielder collected eight hits in 17 at-bats (.471), scoring six runs and driving in seven to power the Scots' offense. Derner highlighted the week with a four-hit performance in Maryville's win over Lynchburg, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. His triple down the right-field line sparked a key scoring sequence that extended the Scots' lead. He also drove in two runs in the victory over Adrian and capped the week with a three-run home run in the Scots' 14–1 win over Greensboro. The Illinois native posting a perfect fielding percentage with no errors to finish the week.
