David Warwick was a four-year starter and linebacker for the Maryville College football program from 1970–1973. A consistent force on the defensive side of the ball, Warwick was recognized as a co-Defensive MVP during his career and became a leader on and off the field. His ability to anchor the Scots' defense through multiple coaching transitions reflected both his talent and his dedication to the program.
After graduation, Warwick carried his passion for the game into a lifelong career in officiating. He served as a small-college football official for approximately seven years before devoting more than five decades to high school football as a Blount County/TSSAA official. In 2019, his remarkable 51-year career on the field was honored with an induction into the Blount County Sports Hall of Fame.
Looking back, Warwick treasures the fellowship, competition, and team camaraderie he experienced during his time as a Scot. His journey reflects the heart of Maryville College athletics. Warwick was a student-athlete who not only excelled in his playing days but also gave back to the game for a lifetime.
